Apple Supplier to Ship Two New iPhones Next Month
If current rumors hold true, Apple will reveal the next model--or models, plural--of the iPhone on September 10. And while there's still no official word out of Cupertino, a new report from The Wall Street Journal adds fuel to the fire surrounding an impending ship date for the iPhone 5S and the lower-cost iPhone 5C.
According to WSJ's sources, Apple supplier Hon Hai Precision (otherwise known as the infamous Foxconn) is planning to ship two new models of iPhone in early September. Yes, that says early September, so you may have the opportunity to get your hands on Apple's new smartphones fairly soon.
The iPhone 5S is rumored to offer meager variations from the iPhone 5, with its main improvements centered around a new A7 processor chip and a dual-LED camera flash. The iPhone 5C, however, could signify a major change in how Apple approaches the smartphone market. The device supposedly features a plastic case in a number of colors, and utilizes the current A6 processor.
A lower-cost iPhone could help Cupertino in the mid-range smartphone market, where Android devices are currently dominating.
