So, basically I rented and downloaded the movie Inception on my iPad. When I finished watching I realized that I might want to watch it again (it was quite good). So, I went into the /var/mobile/media/purchases/ folder and moved the .m4v file out so that it could not be automatically deleted by the Videos app.

I could play the m4v file for some time on the iPad using the iFile native player, so I thought I was clear.

However then after the 24 hour period (or at least close to when that ended, I don't know the exact time) I could not play it anymore.

Opening it in the native iFile player would result in the player closing after about half a second.

I then transferred it to my computer in hopes that it was just some random iFile bug. Now after half an hour of trying different media players, it still has not opened.

In some, it just never opens. In others, like VLC Media Player, it shows the chapter titles and everything by the seek bar, but no image nor sound is there.

Any idea?

I'm thinking it's the DRM, removing that now
