I'm a new iPhone user, so there are quite a lot I don't understand about the device which I'm hoping with your help here I can get through with.
First, I don't have a mobile internet plan from my carrier (expensive and poor reception where I am located), but there's a broadband internet connection which is connected to three computers here. I was wondering if anyone knows how I can connect my iPhone to one of the computers (like wi-fi mode or something) and browse with my phone. However I need to point out that I don't have a wireless router here.
Also, I would appreciate if you guys can help me with useful tweaks that you find extremely useful to you (and, if you can indulge me, tell me what each tweak does).
Thanks for your time guys.

Unfortunately you can't. I believe you will need to get a router and connect your iPhone via wifi.

I was thinking so, too. However, what has me confused was that I created an ad-hoc wireless connection on the computer and my iPhone picked the signal up as a wireless connection, then connected to it, but didn't browse.

Yeah if you can create an ad-hoc network with your computer then it's possible. Keep trying with that. It sounds like the reason your iPhone still isn't getting Internet is probably something on the computer.
