Ok plain and simple I really don't have time to search every topic because I have four kids and a full time job with a part time job.
I want to install a monitoring program on the original ipad but I have to jail break the ipad but i need to know how exactly and can the fact that it has been jail broken be hidden From my kids and wife.
I only have tonight to get this all done. Yes i suspect my wife is cheating and yes i want to make sure my kids are behaving in the ipad.

It's not part of the iTunes store. It exists on its own. If you don't have other folders then yes it will be obvious. You could install poof from cydia but then it adds something to your settings app where it will show all of your apps and that cydia is turned off. You could use sbsettings and there is an option to hide apps but then you'd have to turn off the ways sbsettings activates or they might accidently swipe and activate it.

Honestly I would just keep the cydia icon somewhere on the springboard that they might not notice or mess with it much. If they don't know what it does then they probably won't figure out what it is and even less likely that they'll find out what's installed with it.

Springboard is where all the app icons on the device are located. So if you are calling that the "desktop" of the iPad than yes. You can't delete the icon. You can hide it. You could use poof in cydia and the only thing she could find it is in the settings app.

Tell her you are using cydia for something else like adding more apps to the dock. Then do it and you aren't lying. Or install sbsettings and use that to hide the icon. Just make sure you adjust the settings such as how it is activated.

I was going to just do it myself but the ipad keeps asking for the passcode to unlock the screen even though I turned it off.
