I came here hoping someone could help me. I've had my nose to the grind stone for 2 days trying to unlock my iPhone. I have a 3G ios 3.1.2 and bb 05.11.07. After researching I concluded that I should unlock with ultrasn0w, which requires first to jail break. After more research, I decided to download iTunes 9.1.1 and jail break with Spirit, then get repo666ultrasn0w via Cydia -- and presto, goal achieved. But, no.

To get ultrasn0w through Cydia, I followed the directions at iclarified.com (which gives unlock directions). The download process seems to work just fine. It goes all the way through (I guess) and then says "complete"; and at the bottom "Return To Cydia". So I return to Cydia and in very small print with "Dev Team" over it, in larger print, it "http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com". And the page to the right? Blank. Nothing at all.

After more research I am led to believe that I should try to get ultrasn0w from a different repo...although it was not explained how to do that. But now, Cydia will not open back up. So, I went through the jail break again, which reloaded Cydia (I guess) and that fixed it. So in Cydia, I added musclenerd.com -- it went through the download process and at the bottom a note: I don't recall exactly how it was worded, but an arror that included "NODATA 1" and "NODATA 2". Then when I tried for ultrasnow again, it walked through the entire download process (I guess), and came to the end just as last time. But this time that same error message about musclenerd is there (it even says musclenerd)...and same results. Now, again, Cydia will not open. My glorious plans are on hold until I get some help! Not sure, as I'm on an iPod 4G. But I think you're a bit behind the times :3

You may be better off with ios 4. However I'd wait for some of our iPhone people before you do anything

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I am definately behind the times. But going into this, I thought the old 3 would be just the thing because there would be lots of experience with it and so on.

I see exactly what you mean!

The only thing is that most of the old advice has been covered up, or older tools superceded by newer ones. This means that some tools you may need or some repositories may no longer be available. Your best bet is to look into upgrading to iOS4 if I'm thinking along the right tracks.

Yes ur version 3.2.1 is the problem. Update using iTunes to 4.2.1. It will be automatic. There is still an unlock for the new baseband and Cydia will work correctly.

Wirerat - Thank you for the reply. Cydia had become completely unusable - all the repo files and whatever else it has...everything was blank. After some reading, I decided to get iPhoneBrowser and try to delete Cydia so I could start over. Then I discovered I needed to get afc2...so I was going to download blackra1n and see if I could use the afc2 that comes with it (honestly I have no clue what I'm doing). Everything stopped and itunes gave me the message, "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes".

The iPhone is stuck on the screen that shows a USB cable and iTunes logo (even after reboot attempt). Currently, I have iTunes 9.1.1 on this computer. I had jailbroke with Spirit.

I have another iPhone (3GS) that came with 4.3.5 and bb 05.16.02. I just want to do whatever is the best route to getting either one of these phones jailbroke and unlocked. (Then I'll worry about the other one later) So if you could advise me on what to do I would really appreciate it.
