Galaxy tab 11.6 will have an 2560x2040 pixel screen.
The galaxy S3 will have an 2240x1980 pixel screen.
The galaxy note has an 1280x800 pixel screen.
The ipad3 has an 2048x1536 pixel screen
The iphone5 will have around 1980x1280 screen.
See the variety?
It is rumoured or confirmed.
It makes all these screens Full HD and crystal beauties.
But also battery eaters. Hence the thicker ipad3 compared to ipad2.
And the larger Galaxy tab.
Galaxy note is also thicker then it could be, because of its battery.

A 2240x1980 resolution phone would look retarded. It would be nearly square.

That's a better aspect ratio, but I'd think it would be huge, because of it were small there would be no need for that pixel density as our eyes couldn't distinguish them anyway.

You can see pixels on an iPhone 4 up close, so the resolution can get a little higher. IN THE FUTURE!
The GSIII will not have more than 1280x800 resolution, but it will most likely be 1280x720. It's not 2240x1488 either.
