Unless you wear skin tight pants, the biggest issue is trying to use it one handed. You basically can't. I can barely use my Galaxy Nexus one-handed. If you don't mind having to use two hands all the time to play with your phone, this phone might be for you.

Then the iPhone 4 came out and it was smaller, yet it had a screen 4 times as good.
I could go back to a phone that's a bit larger but I'd rather not hold a a tablet/phone up to my head.
As for pockets, I do a physically demanding job. Imagine going to the gym with a galaxy note, you'd look like a moron and you'd be uncomfortable.
However, it does fill a small niche. It would be a great size for my brother (he almost never talks on a phone).

I remember when the HD2 came out and everyone thought it was so huge. Now 4.3" is normal. People only think a phone with a 5.3" screen is awkward now because it's relatively new. I know it'll always be too big for many people, but after a while it'll just seem normal. If you see someone with a Galaxy Note now, you'll think it's a crazy idea and make your little jokes, but after a while you'll see one and think nothing of it. Just like your friend thought your iPhone was huge and now iPhones are considered small.
I don't see how using a big smartphone at the gym would make you look like a moron though.

Except that, as the average phone size increased, iPhones really have gotten smaller.

Barely though. They've only gotten a little bit thinner (width) which is hardly noticeable.

You could put it in your pocket. That's where I put my phone when I listen to music while running. Or you could buy an armband for it.

It's no iPod nano, but it'll help you build muscle at the same time.
