It does, it just fuses several pixels into one to reduce image size. Same quality though. It is capable of taking raw pictures of like 38MP or something

I checked out a few sample pictures on Gizmodo. They were pretty good, but not worth taking up ~10MB each. I think 8-10 MP on a phone is good enough. I'd rather them just focus on the quality of the lens at that point.

I think 10 is tons. Decent quality cameras are required. It can be ridiculously hi rez but washed out and cruddy.

10MB per picture is ridiculous. 41MP would be nice to have but unnecessary on a phone imo. I think 10MP is the most a phone would need.

Wow you guys... It is capable of taking full res pictures but it is recommended to use Nokia pure view, it takes a full quality image and then fuses 7 pixels into one. It will result in a 12 MP image with insanely good detail. As for the lens quality it is the best on the market. File sizes are only that big when taking raw images, they are normal size with Nokia PureView. The lens is almost double the size of standard lenses in other phones, the image it produces is way better. It's got a super powerful xenon flash, and also an LED video light that doubles as a torch lol. It can take pictures straight from the lock screen in under a second, the fastest photo taking in any mobile. Not to mention that the 41MP allows for 3x digital zoom with no quality loss. It's not going to be insanely expensive either, so I don't know why the camera being overkill is a negative...

Nobody said it was a bad camera. We just said 41MP is overkill. And yeah, 41MP allows for 3x digital zoom if you set the resolution of your photos way lower than 41MP. That's just like taking a full size image and cropping it. Nothing new. I'm just saying if the camera would have been the same but only around 10-12MP, it still would have been probably the best camera in a phone so far.
