Hey guys, I will soon launch a project called compass and square sessions, where I record bands playing acoustic songs.

Anyway for that I would need a camera. Has anyone any idea which one would be quite good for music recording or shall i get a HD recorder and a another sound recorder apart?

Keep them far, far appart lol.
Everything needs micing up properly, then you will wanna at least EQ it.

well whats the budget? You're going to need deep pockets if you want it to work.

depending. just show me few things and I tell ya. A friend of me joins me on this project. means we could go up to 1000 euro. but at first I would only need a good camera and sound equipment for acoustic sessions series.

Well your looking at £300+ just for some drum mics, no cables, no stands, no desk, just the mics. :/
I'd see if you can find someone to deal with the sound that already has all of the gear, then spend all 1000 on a **** off camera.

It all depends though man, what do you want out of this? You cant really go charging or anything if the sound sucks can you? lol

It won't require such a big camera and equipment. but it requires +/- good equipment

I dont know what to suggest man, It looks like they just have a camera and a half decent mic or two.
Personally i'd mic everything up separately then EQ it
You could just get a couple of condenser mics and record everything through them. you would need a little mixer too unless the camera has some mad shit going on. I dont know anything about cameras really. I know you have to spends a lot of money for a good one though haha.

What mic/s have you chosen? Or havent you bothered?

like i said i bought the sony pcm-m10. mics are included. was kinda expensive though. The thing is it should always be a live version not studio thingy.

O right. I didn't know what a field recorder was, i just assumed it was a camera.
Live recordings are usually done with everything mic'd up with it's own channel on a desk.

Having done them before.... O and going to college to do sound engineering

yeah it's not that big dude. it's just a simple acoustic sessions. artists playing a set of 3 songs and it's done

I'd like to release a set weekly. but I really do need a lot of help from everyone I can get.
