Text file is correct just change the extension to the proper thing. Can you save it to the desktop and then drag it over to replace the old file?

You can also try this: Start Notepad with Administrator privileges by right clicking on Notepad app, and click on Run as Administrator option.

It seems to have something to do with the custom ISPW you're using. Are you using the one with NO_BB? Did you build it with the correct 5.0.1 firmware?

Other stuff I've read about this:

Quote

hm, tried the 5th time. Then it became successful.
must be server busy or something.
guys, just keep trying if you encounter the 60000ms error.

Ran GP about an hour ago and got exactly the same problem, it went through the second time though. Only difference was on the 2nd run I made sure my phone was off and connected before entering DFU mode. To get it out of DFU just hold power and home button at the same time until it reboots.
Just keep trying and good luck.

3rd time was a charm for me - 3Gs old bootrom.
I have seen it work the first time on another phone - 3Gs old bootrom.

You need have an internet connection with your PC because GP download files from his server.

You can use sn0wbreeze to create a custom IPSW. It will not update your baseband and I've had success with it.

I'm curious because you said it goes back to DFU - does it start to load the firmware at all? Progress bar, etc?

After that error - did you try to to boot it anyways? Like hold down both buttons until the Apple logo appears? I'm wondering if it made it far enough to load the firmware. Or I thought you could try to boot tethered and see if that did anything. Also not sure if you tried rebuilding the custom ISPW. Are you restoring from a backup? I'm just throwing out ideas...

I don't blame you if you want to go ahead and try sn0wbreeze. I've had success with both programs. I really like sn0wbreeze actually. I'm doing my best to try to help!

Did you use ireb? You have to do that to install the custom firmware. Just like redsn0w has pwneddfu ireb does it for sn0wbreeze.
