title says it all really. it has to support 1080p and support high quality file formats. it would be cool if i could airplay too but that would just be a bonus.

nah i mean hardware. like a box that can stream .mkv and all that fancy shizzle in full HD to my TV. like an apple TV but one that supports full HD. it would be cool if it supported airplay, but like i said thats not important at all.

That's a lot more than I wanted to pay really. I don't need storage or anything, just a reciever box. I don't want a piece of shit at the same time though.

I paid 80 bucks for it. it was on sale. but wait a receiver is not quite the same as a mediaplayer.

So you want something like samsungs SMART tv?

I got it from Saturn. It's was a special offer. I don't think you're gonna find it that cheap again. Hmm there are many cheap alternatives out there but I can't really recommend you any as I haven't tested those.

to be honest that's a brilliant idea. if the MB would be smaller it'd be better of course :)

You're building a small computer and as such you can use it to browse the internet or stream movie directly from a streaming page. you can watch every video file and add subtitles. As I'm home alone now for 2 days I installed my computer next to my TV and attached it to it :)

I've got some better used computer bits arriving soon with any luck, but im going to give it a go on this pentium 3 piece of shit for now. i dont have any other working boards lying around :/

I'm just interested to see if i like boxee. if i do i will be getting an apple TV (when they support 1080p) and install boxee on it.

my computer isn't far from my TV but I've never really liked the whole connecting your computer to your TV thing. im just gonna make a computer that is only boxee and you dont see anything else on it. then I'll just hide it behind my TV somewhere, probably not even bother with a case...yet. then buy a remote or just use the boxee remote app for iOS.

im going to start in a minute. hopefully this piece of shit can run it! lol

well ubuntu is installing as we speak lol. i have the boxee deb waiting on a USB drive.
i should think it will work, just not very well. its got 512mb of RAM and a 800 MHz pentium 3 haha. onboard VGA 8)

i just wanna try the concept. like i said, i will have better hardware to play with next week sometime (hopefully).
