So I just picked up a 4S today, wondering if Apple could have already modified firmware?? I cannot get this absinthe to work, and I have been jailbreaking with all hacks for a couple years now.. I also tried absinthe .3 and 0.1.2.

First attempted with 5.0.1 9A406 firmware, then I went back and loaded 9A405 firmware on the phone and was also not successful. It just gets stuck at the beginning step, where it says "Beginning jailbreak, this may take a while.." It takes a while, like I been waiting 30 mins and it's done nothing. Any ideas?

The one thing I will say, is I did a restore first before I ran the JB... I don't see another way to do it and restore the data to my phone?

Nope. Apple hasn't released an update yet. It took me like an hour (maybe longer) to jailbreak my iPad 2 with Absinthe.

Try updating your iTunes. I was getting the same error over in over again. Took me about 2 hours of restoring until I though to try updating the iTunes. Worked fine afterwards. Also disable the lockscreen password on your iPhone if u have one.

Sorry, I typed a response last night but my internet must have died..

UPDATE- I got it to work shortly after by restoring the phone again (latest firmware) and jailbreaking the FRESH formatted ios. (like the instructions said, helps to read). The jailbreak worked just fine that way. THEN i hit restore and restored all of my apps, texts, etc back the way it was. Phone works great! Ahh.. I have become addicted to the jailbreak..

Hopefully this helps someone else..

I had this issue, I solved this by deleting iTunes, then re-installing a fresh copy of iTunes, I don't know why it works, but it does.

Try this and post your results.
