The A5 jailbreak has finally been released! All of the patience and persistence has paid off. You can now jailbreak your iPad 2 and iPhone 4S untethered. Earlier we posted it was coming soon and sure enough it was.

Here are a few things to remember:
  • It jailbreaks iPhone 4S on iOS 5.0 and 5.0.1
  • It jailbreaks iPad 2 on iOS 5.0.1
  • If you want an unlock on iPhone 4S it is best to stay on 5.0
  • The websites (and Cydia) are being pounded right now so be patient

Cool. Post some results. So far I'm hearing that Cydia tweaks and apps that worked on the other devices work fine on iPad 2 and iPhone 4S.

I jailbroke my iPad 2 and now my Camera, App Store, and Contacts icons are white.

This is a bit pointless tbh. None of the tweaks I wanted work. Think I'm just going to restore and live unjailbroken from now on. I would need a jailbreak for an iPhone for tethering if nothing else, but on a Wi-Fi iPad 2 I don't see much point. =/

What tweaks are you looking for? All the ones I like work.

SDM and Upload Enabler were the two things I was looking forward to the most.

The tweaks will be updated at some point ;) It's the same as back with iOS4. People weren't happy for ages because it didn't have the tweaks iOS3 had. Now you'd never know there had been that stage.

I have jailbroken, but I really just use it for SBSettings, Remove Recents. Activator and...,well that's about it. Still worthwhile :)

Hmm don't use those. Sbsettings, lockinfo, activator, bitesms, folder enhancer, and no accessory splash work. Those are some of my necessities.

But the original iPad has been jailbroken, so devs have had months to update their apps. Unless a bunch of them got iPad 2s and got rid of their original iPads.

I have SBSettings, LockInfo is pointless to me now, Activator obviously, biteSMS is useless on an iPad, and I might try FolderEnhancer.

Some might be waiting for that jailbreak and their tweaks might be out very soon now it's here, Others might be waiting for checking compatibility. Others may have upgraded and some prospective tweak makers might have had to wait for jailbreaks to come out :P

Others may just be lazy ;)

I posted this in "support" already...
I am sure I'm not the only one having these issues.
I have a 4s on 5.01 (9A405) and a MacBook running OS X version 10.5.8 . Each time I open Absinthe it crashes.
I tried it with terminal > 'sudo' > dragged Absinthe into terminal command > "enter" > "password"
It still didn't work. Any suggestions?

This is the message I get: [emoji-E233]

Yeah I just installed it. Looks nicer than stock folders. Any other tweaks you recommend? iPad only please. :)
