I've read that disabling multitasking in ios 5 screws up your springboard and forces you to restore to fix it. Does it still happen with ios 5.0.1? I can only find info on this from earlier versions of ios 5. And has anybody tried disabling the wallpaper? Why I'm asking: because in my experience disabling these two (or at least the wallpaper itself) in ios 4 has made my iPod faster and ios 5 is a snail with a small brain on the iPod touch 4.

Just look and see if the package you use to disable multitasking is compatible with ios 5 in the description.
Use lang2.2 and look up a tutorial for disabling launch daemons and that'll speed up your iPod a considerable amount.

Try not using winterboard. That'll speed up some things.

I don't use that. iOS 5 unjailbroken is slow with low ram.
