yeah the modbook seems like a macbook pro on which has been applied a conversion kit for 50 bucks.

The thing is the ipad form factor is achieved because apple designed it and gave the order to all the hardware manufactures which had to produce in this size. So their hardware is very unique.

We might have to go with the bigger option here if you want something with a bit power.

50? its 900$ and you have to supply the macbook to mod lol

yer i realize that the ipad is an unrealistic size goal, but i think these modified laptops are far too big. if the whole thing was the same size as the bottom part (without lid) of a 13" macbook pro, i'll be happy.

yeah. but the one i showed you is as thin as a macbook pro.

what we have to check is what os could be run on. Maybe we could build the first hackintosh tablet?

but there huge tablets or expensive!

the one made from carbon fibre? it looks kinda thick?

it's not that thick though. anyway if you use a really small mb with everything integrated you'll often need to install usb slots etc on it. that does not often work very well.

furthermore if we use a laptop mb display drivers are already supported and we have enough usb slots etc.

what exactly are will you be looking for? something we can hack apart and make the whole tab out of?

i was thinking netbooks but i cant find any cheap that use even a core 2 duo!

yeah most netbooks use intel atom. What I'm looking for or will are seperate parts on ebay.

i think thats the way to go man. i can 3D model a mock up so we can make it as small as possible. assuming we use the same parts.

well yes. but i wouldn't go under 10" as i would be using it as reader or to watch movies.

i think 10 inch is perfect to be fair. i like the ipad but i dont like how its not a full on computer.

yeah. 10" is really good for our project. and when it comes to the screen I wouldn't chose a bad quality one as the screen is actually the show off and the touchscreen.

yer for definite dude. the screen is how your going to interact with the device, at least get a good digitiser part.

I wish I would've went with an i7. Maybe its not so bad that I waited, now I could go with a six core i7 instead.
