Bethesda, Interplay Reach Fallout Settlement
Bethesda has exclusive rights to all Fallout content.
Bethesda and Interplay have been in and out of court for quite some time thanks to their spat over Interplay's Fallout MMO. Originally Interplay was given rights to develop an MMO based on the franchise, as long as, according to Bethesda, it "secured $30 million in financing for the MMO and commenced full scale development of the game by April 2009."
April 2009 came and went, and Bethesda contended that Interplay did not fulfill their agreement. After several legal bouts (including Bethesda having its most recent appeal denied), it started to look like one of those cases bound to last for years.
That is until today, when Bethesda announced in a press release that they've reached a settlement with Interplay. Per the settlement Interplay's rights to develop a Fallout MMO are "null and void, and all rights granted to Interplay to develop a Fallout MMO revert back to Bethesda, effective immediately." Each side will cover their own litigation costs, and Bethesda will pay Interplay 2 million dollars.
Interplay will be able to sell the older Fallout games until December of 2013. After that, they will then become property of Bethesda. Their merchandising rights will also expire then.

Maybe, Bethesda might make an mmo, but I dont see it as very likely. And the lore would be more of Bethesda's not the original 😰 The MMO might not be dead, although I REALLY cant see Bethesda making an MMO. Meh, I think I prob prefer more Fallout RPGs than an MMO and not nearly as many RPGs.

A Fallout MMO could be pretty good, it'd have potential, but I can't see Bethesda making it.

Bethesda's games are good, but I cant see that style translating into an MMO and still being good. Plus such a large amount of Bethesda's team would be working on the MMO, I cant see any more single player fallouts coming out that are any good.

They already have a rpg-style of gameplay... I think they could pull out a good game.

Maybe if they make it in the style of the first 2 fallouts, but I can't see Bethesda doing that. And how many first person shooter MMOs have you seen?
