It's not letting me j/b my ip4 5.01 using redsnow. I keep getting a f'n EXPLOIT FAILED error and this is driving me nuts. Been at this for 3 hours now.
Anyone know of why I'm getting this and how to get around it, I will be very grateful to you.

Make sure you're using Redsn0w .9.10b3 (here are the download links)

Try running it as administrator.

Most likely you just have the wrong version.

If not just to be safe, still point it to the 5.0.1 firmware.

using win 7 where would this need to be in the directory?

It wouldn't matter what directory it's at as long as redsn0w is pointed to te correct firmware. Also try disabling your anti virus, and firewall and like the guy above said run as admin

If your using windows 7:
Right click on the redsn0w application.
Go to compatibility.
Set it to windows xp service pack 3
Now try

Oh yeah my phones had this problem before... If your phone boots during the jailbreak process then you have to do it over and over again until you get lucky.

Chances are you have a faulty usb cord, try another one.

Please keep a signature image's height under 200px. Thanks.

Hey I'm getting something similar, except I don't get any error but a VERY log pause that never starts again. Redsn0w won't jailbreak my iPod touch 4g either on ios 5.0.1

I've tried so many times and also restore device

Is the pause when it says "uploading first stage"?

No it dOes it at "Explioting Kernal" and does it right when it reaches the end of it. And than right after that this window pops up below saying. The performance would go faster in 2.0 USB port.

This is what I did to fix my problem. I set mine to run in compatibility mode for windows 2000. Open redsn0w. Right click on the redsn0w process in the task manager. Then select set affinity to CPU0 only.

SUCCESS
I got it to work and all I did was use my dads computer.
I loaded the newest version of iTunes 10.5.2 and I'm thinking that was the problem.
I put 10.5 on his computer and tried it and was successful.
Thanks for all the input and suggestions everyone, hopefully this will be your fix as well coldblood.
