hello, i posted here earlier about my problem with restoring with custom firmware. however, during that process, i forgot to downgrade iTunes to 10.2, so now my iphone 4 is in a constant DFU loop.

• the iPhone comes up as in recovery mode in iTunes
  
• the iPhone cannot be seen with tiny umbrella
  
• the iPhone makes the appropriate connect and disconnect 'bah-dum' and 'dah-bum' in windows 7
  
• iReb and others don't affect the iPhone
  
• iTunes can successfully restore the iPhone, however it just goes straight back into DFU loop afterwards.

specs:

• model: iPhone 4
  
• FW version (current): 4.3.2
  
• jailbroken with: sn0wbreeze
  
• SHSHs for: 4.3

i read online that if you attempt to restore to custom firmware on iTunes >10.2 it will go into DFU loop.

it should also be noted that the screen will not turn on at any point.

I have 10.4 and i successfully restore to sn0wbreeze 4.3.3 CFW

with all due respect, that's not my problem at the moment. my problem is that i am stuck in a DFU loop, and its not my iPhone, so if i cant fix it, I'm going to have to tell the owner that i have broken it.

Does it still go into recovery if you upgrade to the latest unjailbroken firmware?

i havn't tried upgrading to the latest firmware as i plan on unlocking the phone, so i need to preserve the baseband. however, i have tried shift restoring to and unjailbroken firmware, iTunes thinks its installing fine, but the phone screen never turns on throughout or after the process.

Have you tried using iReb from iH8sn0w or fix recovery from Tiny Umbrella to try to put it in recovery mode or pull out of DFU mode? it's almost impossible to brick an iPhone. Don't give up hope yet. There's always a few tricks you can try.

Hmm the same problem with me so i cum with apple soft firmware rather than a cuatom firmqare and it solve my problem also i dis wasupgrade my baseband to 6.15.00 ! I hope there ill b other methods to ! If dont try fresh firmware !

unfortunately, yes. I've tried iReb r4, and got nothing. rec boot and tiny umbrella both seem to give run time errors, i thinks that's because its only view able with iTunes.

I've already tried to restore to regular firmware, but i get error 1013 most of the time, and when it does complete, it just goes back into DFU loop. but it restores to custom firmware without error, but again, it still end on a DFU loop.

Try using redsn0w and select boot tethered when you restore with custom firmware it sometimes gets a tethered jailbreak instead untethered.
So in other words its probably not in DFU loop, just needs booting tethered.

no, sorry. I had tried this before, and I've just tried it again. the 'booting tethered' option in redsn0w does absolutely nothing. no screen flickers, anything. I'm starting to loose hope.

this is not (or it is very unlikley) a harware malfunction as the phone was working, jailbroken at one point, and its a brand new iphone 4.

i may have forgotten to mention this part: after restoring with the custom firmware for the first time, i was able to boot the phone with redsn0w. i went on cydia and installed untrasn0w, witch required a reboot. upon rebooting the iphone, i was presented with this problem. sorry for this lack of information.

I'm not sure if this will help, but you might as well try everything. Try downgrading to a different firmware.

Maybe you should take it to the apple store and say your device is broken. They may give you a new one though you probably won't be able to unlock it for a while.

this happenned to me... I couldt do anything, but i kept kicking it in and out of recovery with tiny umbrella and using ireb and every method i could find.

It ended up coming good after about the 1000th attempt, just keep trying

could you give me some more information on what you mean? i don't want to have too repeat something 1000 times and have it be wrong and not work

also, is there any way to access the phone's file system/terminal/kernel via usb while its in DFU without having open ssh installed?

Try restoring to 4.1 stock firmware. If you get error 1015 when restoring use either iReb or Tinyumbrella to exit recovery.

i don't have SHSHs for 4.1, will this still work?

Yeah because 4.1 is still being signed by Apple.
