Home button on occasion tends to be unresponsive when trying to back out of pretty much any app or implanted apps like camera and so fourth.

Would just stay on the screen I'm currently at. Only fix is when I restart or click on remove background apps.

Anyone have this problem all the time and/or know a fix?

Have no fix, but think it sounds like there's a dodge install on your device. If you go into safe mode does it still happen?

I might sound daft, but are you running a iDevice that was designed for an earlier OS? Like an iPhone 3 on new (jailbroken) fm 4..?
Just curious. Found issues when shifting my 3gs to JB 4 FM. Is this the case?
And happy to lend a hand - though it may not be helping.

Sounds like a hardware issue. I mash mine so much it's becoming unresponsive as well. My advice would be to have Activator commands for opening the multitasking bar, exiting a app, etc.

Had the same thing, happened over a couple of days. Deleted recently installed apps, number of re-springs, reboots & reset to original settings, and multiple syncs, it started randomly working again. A couple days later all was well (I probably had gotten some moisture in button or jarred something upon dropping)

Obviously not if your having this issue, home button seems to get iffy when you jailbreak... Because some time you press the home button way to hard when you Truro DFU mode.
If you don't like this answer sorry 😭
But you can try to restore and if this still happens well you know what the problem is.

I'm going to go ahead and say it's a hardware issue.

I sometimes have this and what I believe is it has to do with 4.3.x firmware. I didn't have it before. Others have said the same.

You know , I had same problem before. I done restores and didn't help. Was hardware problem. It gets dirty inside home button and becomes unresponsive . U can even feel it when u click it's not normal. tried many things. Blowing air, etc, was so upset that I didn't even care if would damage the phone. I took Q20 ( in my country is a liquid spray that u use to clean guns, and electronic stuff) sprayed on home button, let liquid go inside, kept pressing button and it become responsive. On my screen kept saying for 5 minutes " the acessorie you trying to use is not compactable" think maybe liquid went into charger connection. I let it dry and for 4 months now my iPhone never game me any problem again..

my mates phone has the same unresponsive problem. the good news is apple will replace it. the guy in the apple store says that it's usually cause by people pressing the home button too hard trying to jailbreak.

No ways.. Is not cause of pressing hard. I read somewhere its a hardware fault. It's easy to get dirt underneed and u can't clean it.
